PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH

Research With Communities, Not Just About Communities

Participatory research is based on the philosophy that research is more impactful when conducted with people and partners in the communities most affected by the health issue being studied.

Rather than designing research independently, investigators partner with patients, communities, healthcare workers, governments, and organizations to inform and enrich every step of the research process.

The result is research that is more relevant, sustainable, and more likely to improve outcomes.

Why This Matters

Effective research leads to discovery. Discovery translates into interventions. Interventions scale with implementation. Implementation drives true change.

Participatory methods and implementation science are powerful tools to ensure that discoveries benefit the people and populations most in need.
